Which aspect of a game is more important to you?

So many people I know have complained about either the quality of stories in games being lackluster, or the game play being too easy. I've noticed a mix of both in a number of games lately. For me, a game has to have a decent story. I can forgive game play hiccups if the story is good. Good mechanics and bad story, though? Ehhh...

Story. A game can have sub-par graphics but a great story, and I'll be a happy camper. All flash and no substance, on the other hand? I'll feel like I didn't get my money's worth. Final Fantasy XII killed me because the story wasn't as good as I was hoping it would be. Very fun battle system, but aside from game play, totally forgettable.

I need a balance of both. If the graphics are truly atrocious, it takes away from my ability to enjoy the game. Older games aren't as much of a problem on that front, but with newer games, I am definitely disappointed if the graphics aren't the best they could possibly be. Games are expensive. They should be excellent on all fronts.
